Nagpur Bureau: Director IIM Nagpur Dr. Bhimaraya Metri traced the progress made by India under the leadership of honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi as the institute celebrated 74th Republic Day on Thursday. At the outset, Dr. Metri hoisted the Tricolour in the presence of administrative staff, faculty members, and students. Chief Administrative Officer of IIM Nagpur Lt Col Makarand V Alur (Retd) was present on the occasion.
“As G20 host, India is going to make a mark with regard to strengthening governance on all major international economic issues,” Dr. Metri said. The world would look at India for values, leadership, research, and development, he added. Highlighting the progress achieved by IIM Nagpur, Dr. Metri informed that the institute was in an expansion mode, with the government promising to provide around 50 acres of land to establish a full-fledged campus in Pune and a satellite campus in Goa. IIM Nagpur has grown horizontally and vertically in the last seven years.
Appreciating the contributions made by the entire IIM Nagpur fraternity, Dr. Metri said that because of their invaluable contribution, the institute had become a role model for other educational institutions in the country. With this kind of commitment, IIM Nagpur will stand out as one of the best institutions in the country. Ministry of Education, Government of India, has already recognized IIM Nagpur as an institution of eminence, he informed. Besides this, the Government of Maharashtra had selected IIM Nagpur to conduct the prestigious Chief Minister’s Fellowship Program for the forthcoming academic year, Dr. Metri added. He announced that IIM Nagpur’s InFED had been shortlisted for funding under Atal Innovation Mission.
The formal flag hoisting was followed by a cultural programme presented by the institute’s MBA students. The students staged a skit giving the message that responsibilities come with rights. Students presented patriotic songs and showcased India’s cultural diversity through various performances.
