Nagpur Bureau: Ex Cadet Sergeant Damini Prakash of NCC Group Headquarters, Nagpur has brought laurels to NCC and Nagpur by successfully completing one year training at Officers Training Academy, Chennai and got commissioned into the Indian Army on 29 May 21 as Lieutenant Damini Prakash. Born to Pruthvi Prakash and Vibhawari Prakash, Damini did her schooling from Providence Girls High School, Nagpur. She completed her 12 th and B.Sc from SFS College, Nagpur.
She underwent three years training in the NCC from No. 2 (Mah) Air Squadron NCC Nagpur and secured ‘A’ grade in both ‘B’ and ‘C’ Certificate examinations. During her NCC training, Damini bagged a gold medal each in .22 firing and Skeet Shooting in Inter Group
Competition. Cadet Sgt Damini represented Maharashtra state in All India Vayu Sainik Camp held at Bengaluru in October 2014. Training in the NCC inspired her to pursue a career in the Indian Army. Through NCC Special Entry scheme, she cleared the Services Selection Board followed by the medical examinations.
Damini always took great interest in all the NCC activities and was a keen sports enthusiast. She played football, kho-kho and took part in athletics at state level. Owing to her three year training in the NCC, she completed her military training at OTA comfortably and passed out as a sword appointment. Lt Damini owes her achievements and success to her family, NCC, teachers and friends.
